Parent-Implemented Intervention for Early Learners
Evidence-based support, delivered by you at home
Compass offers parent-implemented intervention for early learners, a structured, evidence-based approach where you, supported by hands-on training from Erin, deliver your child's programme at home. It's a great fit for families of newly-diagnosed or pre-school-age children who want to start building skills early, without waiting for therapist availability or committing to a large in-home team. If you'd rather bring in your own home therapist, Erin can train and supervise them alongside you too.
Every programme starts with an assessment to build a clear picture of your child's strengths and priorities, and goals are agreed together as a family. A typical programme includes one in-person session each month, plus a monthly Zoom check-in. Each week you record a short video of your practice at home, and Erin reviews it and sends feedback, so you're never troubleshooting alone between sessions. Objectives are reviewed and updated roughly every 12 weeks as your child progresses.
You'll leave every session knowing exactly what to work on and how, broken into small, manageable steps so new strategies are easy to get right from day one. Typical goals include communication, following instructions, play and social skills, and reducing behaviours that get in the way of learning, always chosen around your child and your family's priorities.
This service is best suited to young children, typically pre-school and early primary age, including those newly diagnosed with autism or another neurodevelopmental difference. It's a good fit whether you're just starting out and want a structured, evidence-based foundation, or you already have some support in place and want expert training to get more out of it. Compass works with families across Edinburgh, East Lothian, Midlothian and West Lothian.
